Hi, hari ini saya nak berkongsi sedikit information. Hari ini guru saya beritahu saya tentang DUSTMITES!!! Bercakap tentang Dustmites ni, rupa-rupanya dustmites ni sangat2 menakutkan!!!!

What are dust mites?
House dust mites are microscope bugs that primarily live on dead skin cells regularly shed from humans and their animal pets. Dust mites are harmless to most people. They don't carry diseases, but they can cause allergic reactions in asthmatics and others who are allergic to their feces.

Skin cells and scales, commonly called dander, are often concentrated in lounging areas, mattresses, frequently used furniture and associated carpeted areas, often harbor large numbers of these microscopic mites. Since the average human sloughs off 1/3 ounce (10 grams) of dead skin a week. That gives dust mites a lot to eat. Cats and dogs create far more dander for dust mites to eat.

A typical mattress can contain tens of thousands of dust mites. Sick yet? Nearly 100,000 mites can live in one square yard of carpet. Ready to convince your spouse to start bathing regularly? Did you know a single dust mite produces about 20 waste droppings each day, each containing a protein to which many people are allergic. Yuck! The proteins in that combination of feces and shed skin are what cause allergic reactions in humans. Depending on the person and exposure, reactions can range from itchy eyes to asthma attacks. And finally, unlike other types of mites, house dust mites are not parasites, since they only eat dead tissue. Gross, but true.

Dust Mites Control
Dust mites will eat your dead skins and the remains of other pests. You need to clean your house completely on a regular basis, if you want to seriously reduce the number of dust mites.

Dust mites live in beds.
They reside in your bed because it is the main place where you spend a good amount of time shedding your skin on. Change your bed sheets, bed mattresses and beat your pillows regularly.

Dust mites live in your carpet.
Day and night, carpets collect everything you drag into your home. Therefore, large amounts of dust mites can be found breeding in your carpets. Vacuum them as often as possible.

Dust mites eat the remains of other pests
It would be best practice to reduce the numbers of other pests like silverfish, roaches and fleas. They are all neighbors of dust mites and live together helping each other

Dust mites don't like being steam cleaned.
Try steam cleaning on areas where you have upholstery and lots of human traffic at home. The steam cleaning work will kill some of the dust mites and does a lot more thorough job of picking up particles of dust.

Preventing Dust Mite Allergies
Many people prefer Wood flooring as a way to avoid allergic reactions due to dust mites and other pests. The less carpet area (which is the most infested part of your home) on the floor, the less places you will give dust mites a chance to settle down and roost.

Synthetic Furniture
Synthetics are becoming better choices for furniture upholstery due to dust mites' tendency to be attracted to wool and other natural fabrics. Materials such as polar fleece are a good choice for bedding.
